Our very first cake smash styling and we really love creating it! Jessica wanted an outdoor shoot as she prefers a natural setting and thus our photographer, Kelvin Koh from Lighted Pixels Photography chose the Upper Peirce Reservoir for the shoot. It was a really nice place and pretty quiet since we did the shoot on Tuesday which was the actual birthday of Keira. Other than the monkeys that keep loitering around, everything else was perfect. And here's a sneak peak of her photos which is unedited, Kelvin Koh air drop them to me on the spot, can't wait to share it with all of you here!




Some tips when it comes to doing a cake smash for your little ones, bring lots of baby wipes because there is a lot to clean after the shoot! And prepare extra clothings for them to change and of course if you are doing an outdoor shoot, standby insect repellent!

Miffy  Theme Birthday Party for 1 year old 

When Jessica approached me to do her daughter's 1 year old birthday party, I was really excited as I have done her solemnization and wedding 5 years ago and it is with great honour that I'm going to help her plan another life event of hers!

Her request was really simple, all she wanted was a Miffy Theme Party for her daughter Keira and off I go searching online for Miffy stuff as I'm not really very familiar with Miffy other than knowing she's a white rabbit. So Miffy originated in Netherlands and has a dutch name which is call Nijntje and she has a few friends that are bears and pig I think. I guess I'm more familiar with Hello Kitty, who doesn't. Haha..

Should I Pay for My Entourage Attire?

So now you have selected your bridesmaids & groomsmen, next thing on your mind would be the attire that they are going to wear on the wedding day. Most couples would prefer their entourage to be in the same outfit as it will turn out nicer in the pictures. So who should be responsible for the dressing budget? Although it is not mandatory for couples to pay for their entourage attire but we have list out a few scenario which we feel it is always nice for the couple pay for the attire.

#1 Specified Style, color and material
If the couple only has a color concept but they prefer their entourage to wear a specified style, color and material eg halter neck satin pink dresses for the bridesmaid and pink cotton shirt for the groomsmen, then they should pay for the attire, as the entourage might have different shades of pink dress or pink shirt, so they may end up having to buy new ones.

#2 Concept Wedding
If the couple has a unique concept like a Super Mario theme, Back to School, Lord of The Rings, Starwars etc, which requires them to purchase the attire, in this case, couple should pay for their entourage clothes. As these clothes are unique to the theme and most people probably wont have such clothes on hand!

#3 Designer Wear
There may be a certain designer that you like and you would love it if everyone wore that label, such instance the couple should pay for the attire as it could be something that is not within the entourage budget and thus it would be a nice gesture to pay for their attire.

Instances when couple do not have to pay for the attire is when entourage are only required to adhere to the color theme, eg any shades of pink or purple. Or when they are only require to adhere to the style, eg as long as it is  a short dress or a shirt, any color is fine.

In any case, paying for your entourage attire even it is just a tie to match the color theme of your wedding is always a nice gesture and it a good chance for you to express your appreciation for their time and effort to being there for you. Of course, we want to keep it close to you budget as well. Be creative in to explore that else can you do if you not going to say thanks by paying for the outfit.

Is Wedding Invitation Card Necessary?

Many couples have asked us whether is it necessary to send physical wedding invitation cards? Is it ok for them to just invite them via Facebook invites? Or create an event online and send to everybody? This way, they could save the money to print the invitation cards and spend it somewhere else for the wedding. And most of them feel that guests will throw away the invitation cards once the wedding is over.

We are in the world where people can easily connect to one another through a click of a button, be it via SMS, Whatsapp, Facebook and email. No longer do we need to write long letters to update friends how we are doing or sending physical family photos to family overseas.

From our point of view, we feel that wedding invitations are important and necessary because the invitation card helps to set the tone of the event. When you received the invitation card from the couple, based on the design and the color used, you would be able to envision what kind of wedding that the couple has planned. Especially as wedding planners, our concept begins from the moment the guest receives the card till the moment they leave the wedding, every little details counts.

Furthermore, it is always polite and more formal to send guests physical wedding invitation than to send them via online means. It shows how important they are to you and how important this event is. And guests will take more responsibility to respond whether they can make it for the event. If it was a Facebook event or via Whatsapp, you will definitely have a hard time trying to get them to respond.

Not forgetting, the wedding invitation card is the first impression you give the guests about your wedding, so it plays an important part on how guests precieved your wedding with this invitation card that they received. Make it the best spoke person for your wedding!

However for Save The Date card, it is perfectly fine to do it via online means or you can even take one step further to create a Save The Date video to send to your guests.

4 Questions to Determine Who Should Be Your Maid of Honor

We know is very difficult to choose that someone among all your girlfriends to decide who should be your maid of honor, fret not. we have 4 questions for you to help you determine who should be your MOH.

Questions to ask when choosing your maid of honor

1. Has she been with me for more than 10 years?

If she has been hanging out with you for more than 10 years, chances are you will be friends forever! She would still be that someone who will be there to share your wedding another 10 years down the road. And, she's probably the first person that you will call when he first proposed!

2. Does your family know who she is?

If your family members know who she is, where she stay or even ask you about her, she's probably like a family to you. No doubt the connection that you have with her is more like sisters than friends and that's definitely another extra point for her to be your Maid of Honor!

3. Is she the one that I will go to when I have problems?

Think about the days when you are having a bad day at work or when you have problems in your relationship, who would you confide in? Was she there to listen to your problems and give you advise? During your planning process, you will need someone like her who can calm you down, give you advise on the choice of your wedding gown, decoration etc. to keep you sane.

4. Is she reliable?

As we all know, a bride can't do everything on her own on the wedding day and thus, that's where the Maid of Honor comes in to help out with the planning process. So in order to make sure that she is able to take up the responsibilities of ensuring that everything is in order, you will have to access her capability in her organizing skills and how she would be managing the rest of the bridesmaid

Should I have a big or intimate wedding? 4 questions to ask

It is very common in Singapore to have weddings with at least 250 guests as that is usually the minimum requirement for hotels. Whereas for an outdoor venue, usually the max is between 100-150 pax, so should you have a big wedding or an intimate wedding?

We have planned many weddings, most of which are around 300 - 600 guests, a handful are less than 100 people. We noticed the elements in deciding if you should have  a big versus an intimate wedding and concluded it into 4 main questions to ask for you.


#1 Who would you like to invite to your wedding?
Who would you want to spend this special day with? With people close to your heart or with everyone that you have been in touch with?

The most significant difference when it comes to a big versus intimate wedding would be the guests. For an intimate wedding, your guest list is kept small and you have to be very careful with who you are inviting. And most of the time, these people will be those that are really close to you and mean something to you in your life. This would also mean that you will have more time to mingle and share the love and happiness you have with these people during the wedding.

But of course having a big wedding makes you less stressful with the people that you want to invite as you don't have to worry about leaving anyone out or turning anyone down.

#2 Where do you want to have your wedding?
Are you dreaming of having your wedding in a big and classy ballroom with high ceiling and chandeliers or a venue that is cosy and has a lot of personalities?

#3 What type of mood that you want to create for your wedding?
A big wedding makes your wedding feel like a big party especially if you are having a live band or a DJ to spin for your after dinner party. However, it doesn't mean that you can't have a great party when you have an intimate wedding! But the plus side is, you get to have much more time to spend and mingling with your friends in an intimate wedding setting.

#4 How would you like to allocate your wedding budget?
What is important to remember is, intimate wedding not necessary cost less than a big wedding. All decision come down to what is your priority when it comes to having your own wedding? E.g. pretty details that it Pinterest worthy, grand affair at prestige venue, delectable food and beverage, a night filled with entertainment and etc.

Major cost (40%-60%) of the wedding comes from the food and beverage, hence with lesser people, you will spend lesser on food theoretically. With the $xxxxx amount of your wedding budget, set a priority, work out the sum and make a decision from there.
